Doris Mae Wilson Dozier, 86, was called to be with her Lord after a brief illness. She passed quietly at her home in Radcliff. She was a native of Hardin County, born in Vine Grove to the late B. Earl and Lera (Martin) Wilson. She was a graduate of Vine Grove High School, class of 1949. She was a charter member of Radcliff United Methodist Church and was a member of Vine Grove Methodist Church growing up. She loved her church family and participated in many activities including the choir, United Methodist Women, and Joy Group. She was a member of the Heartland Fillies and loved to sing and entertain. She also loved to ride motorcycles. She was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, Chapter S and a former Road Trip co-Captain with her husband, B.J. Dozier, who preceded her in death. She was involved in many community organizations throughout her life to include the Hardin Co Extension Homemakers, the PTA, North Hardin Band Boosters, the ladies auxiliary of the Radcliff Fire Department, the Order of the Eastern Star, and collecting donations for the WHAS Crusade for Children.
One of her passions was crocheting. She started in the mid-70’s and many babies were nestled on one of her afghans. In her later years, she discovered that Hosparus of Central Kentucky was recruiting crafters to create blankets and afghans for their patients. Doris found her calling. She made many afghans to keep these folks warm at the end of their life and continued until just last year.
She will always be remembered for her ready smile, her unbounding goodwill and kindness, and her readiness to help in any situation.
She is survived by her children, Jack (Becky Signorino) Dozier and Janet (Doc Sharp) Dozier, her brother Leon (Jackie) Wilson, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers Harold Wilson and Robert (Bob) Wilson.
